Across Nethermost Cove 17/02/08 09:54
One of many shots taken on a particularly productive morning on Helvellyn. This is a personal favorite of mine, so much so that I have adopted it almost as my trademark. As is so often the case, the conditions were entirely unexpected - to the extent that I'd not fed the Wythburn car park meter as I'd anticipated being back down and away before payment was required. Not returning until after midday, I was lucky!

Ingleborough Dawn 17/02/08 07:13
Taken much earlier on the same morning as "Across Nethermost Cove", this shot uses a 200mm lens that foreshortens & draws in the distinctive distant silhouette of Ingleborough, rising out of the mist.

One of the hags on Mallerstang Edge adds a dash of colour and texture to the snowy plateau.

Snow Drift, Near Skeggles Water 06/01/10 10:24
After much labouring in deep soft snow and poor visibility, the cloud cleared and the sun came out to reveal and highlight this heavily drifted wall.

Pendragon Castle 19/12/09 12:00
The rather forlorn looking Pendragon Castle is in contrast with a snowy foreground and a bright cloud backdrop.

High Cup Nick 05/06/09 06:52
Mean't to be a cross-country skiing outing, the wind had removed most of the decent snow and in fact persistent spindrift interfered with photography all day.

Mallerstang & Wild Boar Fell 19/12/09 10:19
The cloud was gathering in the south and the west, but just about held off Wild Boar Fell until midday.

Great Asby Scar 18/12/09 10:35
The extra interest in a light dusting of snow and an active sky is my excuse here for another tree on a limestone pavement...

Great Asby Scar 18/12/09 10:23
A deceptively bright and “warm” scene, on what was actually a very cold day. The sky is the clue as to how windy it was.
